Some useful information for your African golf tour

Travel

It's a long overnight flight to Johannesburg then to Durban so we suggest you wear something comfortable on the flight. Arrival in Johannesburg is at approx 4.15PM, there is then an hour stopover before the flight to Durban.
All overland travel is in air-conditioned mini-bus, our drivers are African and multilingual. Your host, Bob Gill of Golf Adventures Unlimited, is conversant with the locals and experienced in travel thru these areas. Your travel documents (if required) will be handed to you on arrival in Johannesburg.

Make sure your passport is up to date and check to see if you need a visa.

Travel insurance is recommended. Ask us or your travel agent to include the insurance with your airline ticket.
No flights are included in our African Safari cost due to constant price changes. We suggest you use South African Airways/Qantas which will enable you to coordinate arrival/departure times with the rest of the group. This may also make any internal flights less expensive. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer points are valid for use on South African Airways. Flights can be coordinated by Golf Adventures Unlimited/Flight Centre or direct with South African Airways.

Accommodation
All hotels and lodges have been selected for their quality, value and convenience. Since your safety is paramount, we will not be staying in any areas that are not completely safe.

Check with your doctor regarding vaccinations.

Luggage
Please endeavour to keep your luggage to a minimum. You should only require a small "on plane" bag, one suitcase or sports tube and of course, your golf clubs. Strip the golf bag of unnecessary items and make sure you have a carry strap for your caddies. Allow space to fit souvenirs and trophies.

Golf Adventures Unlimited have good quality golf bags with travel covers and on rollers for $100, normally sell for $135. If you need to purchase one just contact us.

Clothing
Keep it to a minimum. You will have the opportunity to have your laundry done and it's inexpensive. Include a warm safari jacket and good walking shoes. Just enough for 7 days. They can be laundered and reused for the second week. Formal clothes are definitely not required. Don't forget to bring the following :
  • a camera (with a telephoto lens, if possible)
  • binoculars
  • floppy hat
  • sun screen
  • golf clothes that can also be worn as day clothes
  • swimming costume
Climate
Seasons and temperatures in South Africa are similar to Sydney. It can get cool in mornings and evenings.

Clean the soles of your golf shoes thoroughly before coming home or AQIS (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service) will get you!
